Hi, my name is Val Haack and it's nice to have you visit my website.

My kennel is located in a small country community in Lane county near Eugene Oregon. I have been at this same location for 40 years and am a native Oregonian. I live on and maintain 6 acres of mostly wooded property. Along with my Golden Retrievers, I also have a Ragdoll cat named Sir Bentley, and a rescue cat named Micetro. We have always had a yard full of critters keeping us company. From pet skunks and ferrets to exotic birds, rabbits and Gerbils. My husband never knows what I am going to come home with next!

"Golden Melodies" is the name of my kennel and I chose that name because Golden Retrievers bring a song to my heart. I have owned, raised and bred Golden Retrievers for over 30 yrs. I started out in the early 80's with a field trial line female who was spunky and full of energy. As I bred in those early years, I was thinking that most of my puppies would go to bird hunting homes but after awhile, I came to realize that most were being placed as pet companions. As my golden puppies tended to come from high energy lines, I began to slowly change my breeding program and to introduce genetics that would lower the energy level down a bit. If that is really possible in a Golden Retriever. While still producing the structurally sound dogs that I want, I am now focusing on producing dogs that will fit most life styles.

At "Golden Melodies" kennel here in Veneta, we strive to maintain a high standard for producing healthy, productive, Golden Retriever puppies. Whether your interest in owning a Golden Retriever is for conformation showing, hunting and tracking, obedience and rally, agility, or a companion for your family, our dogs will get you there. If your heart dog is a Golden Retriever, we strive to breed for that wonderful temperament. We always take a long hard look at the genetic match ups with our dogs to maintain the highest standards for producing the healthiest puppies we can.

All our Golden Retrievers are AKC registered and meet the breed standards. They have their clearances for eyes, heart, thyroid, hips and elbows. I am a member of The Golden Retriever Club of America and try and keep up with new issues that come along with our breed.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have regarding my kennel and or breeding program. I encourage you to go to my buyers list of questions that I have prepared for anyone wanting to purchase a Golden Retriever puppy. It's very important to ask any breeder of a litter questions to make sure they are breeding to AKC standards and have all their clearances. Learn not only about the Dam and Sire of the litter, but also several generations back. Be an informed buyer so you get a healthy happy puppy.
